Former Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has sparked political shockwaves at the Coast after launching a fierce attack on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), warning that the party risks losing the region if long-standing grievances are ignored.
In a fiery address, Jumwa accused ODM of sidelining Coast leaders despite years of loyalty from the region. She said the Coast has consistently backed the party but remains politically short-changed, a situation she warned could trigger a mass walkout.
Her remarks have unsettled ODM leaders at the Coast, forcing the party into damage-control mode as speculation grows over possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Although Jumwa has not formally announced her exit from ODM, analysts say her explosive statements reflect deep-seated frustration within the region and could significantly weaken the party’s grip on the Coast if left unaddressed.
With the 2027 polls approaching, ODM now faces a critical test as pressure mounts from influential Coast politicians demanding change.
