Arsenal’s summer transfer window is heating up, with major decisions being made on key targets and current squad members. After finishing second in the Premier League for a third consecutive season, the Gunners are determined to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad across multiple positions.

One of the most talked-about sagas is that of Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker has reportedly told Sporting Lisbon he no longer wants to play for the club, with only one destination in mind: Arsenal.

According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Gyokeres has been given permission to report late for pre-season training as he pushes for a move to north London.

Arsenal had previously tabled a bid of €55 million (£47m) plus bonuses, which Sporting rejected. Now, the Gunners are hoping that a revised offer of €60m (£51m) plus €10m (£8.5m) in bonuses, already agreed in principle with Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, will seal the deal. But Sporting president Frederico Varandas is standing firm on his €80m (£68m) asking price.

Despite preferring RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko at one point, Arsenal are now fully aware of Gyokeres’ strong desire to join, which could give them the upper hand in final negotiations.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s search for a new centre-back has hit a roadblock. Valencia have rejected an initial bid for their rising star, Cristhian Mosquera.

The 19-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, but Valencia are still hopeful of keeping him. Club captain Jose Gaya voiced his support for Mosquera and fellow teammates Javi Guerra and Cesar Tarrega staying put:

“I would be delighted if all three could stay because I think they can give a lot this new season and bring a lot of joy to the fans,” Gaya told Spanish radio.

With Liverpool set to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, Mosquera remains Arsenal’s top target in defense, and the club is expected to keep pushing.

In midfield, Arsenal have already made proactive moves. Martin Zubimendi is arriving from Real Sociedad and Christian Norgaard from Brentford, both signings designed to fill the void left by expected departures.

Thomas Partey is one of those set to leave, as his contract ends on June 30. With no extension in sight, Partey is attracting strong interest from Turkey.

Reports suggest Fenerbahce’s sporting director Devin Ozek has traveled to London to meet with the Ghanaian midfielder’s representatives. Jose Mourinho, now managing Fenerbahce, is said to be keen on bringing Partey to Istanbul, even placing him ahead of Wilfried Ndidi on the club’s wish list.

In other areas, Arsenal are also finalizing the signing of backup goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, a low-risk move to provide depth in goal.

With a few weeks left before the season kicks off, Arsenal’s transfer business is far from done. Fans are growing impatient, especially over the delay in signing a top-class striker. But with Gyokeres pushing hard for a move, and other deals progressing, the Gunners look set for a busy and potentially game-changing window.
