Kenyan musician Bahati has drawn praise online after publicly congratulating his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Yvette Obura, following her engagement to her fiancé, Frank Otieno. The singer shared Yvette’s engagement video on Instagram, adding a lighthearted caption that instantly caught fans’ attention for its mix of humour and grace.

“Why are people tagging me on this video? 🤷♂️ Anyway congratulations Mama Mueni @yvette_obura 👏👏👏 I can see you were searching for tall, dark and… Sawa basi, mletee dinner tujuane 🙏,” Bahati wrote.

The post sparked widespread reactions across social media, with fans applauding the Adhiambo hitmaker for his maturity and good spirit. Many viewed the gesture as a reflection of emotional growth and continued mutual respect between the two — despite their past romantic relationship.

Yvette’s Emotional Engagement Moment

Yvette, popularly known as Mama Mueni, had earlier announced her engagement through a heartfelt Instagram post, revealing that she had said “yes” to the man who restored her faith in love.

“I said yes to the man that made me believe in love again. I’m letting go of past pain and failed relationships. The right one God brought my way,” she wrote.

The engagement scene, complete with “Marry Me” lights, rose petals, and fairy décor, captivated fans who have followed her personal journey from heartbreak to healing.

A Model of Co-Parenting

Bahati and Yvette share a daughter, Mueni, and have long been commended for their healthy co-parenting relationship. Both have publicly emphasized that their child’s wellbeing remains their top priority.

Over the years, what began as a turbulent breakup has evolved into a respectful friendship. Bahati’s playful message only reinforced that dynamic — showing that empathy, humour, and maturity can coexist even after separation.

For many Kenyans online, the exchange served as a reminder that peaceful co-parenting and emotional growth are possible — even under the intense scrutiny of celebrity life.
