Two Strikers, One Big Like: Zirkzee and Hojlund React as Man Utd Close in on £73M Benjamin Sesko Transfer

Manchester United are preparing to officially announce their new superstar striker, Benjamin Sesko, and two of the club’s current forwards have already reacted online in a way that has fans talking.

Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, both part of United’s attacking lineup, have been spotted liking a social media post confirming Sesko’s imminent arrival at Old Trafford.

The move for Sesko is part of a huge summer rebuild for United’s attack. This summer alone, they have already signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Now, they are set to land their main target for the No. 9 role ahead of the new Premier League season.

Sesko, who is only 22 years old, has been in high demand. Arsenal and Newcastle United were both interested in signing the RB Leipzig striker. But Manchester United have beaten them to it.

The deal is reported to be worth just under £73 million, including add-ons. News of the agreement broke on Thursday afternoon, and Sesko is expected to complete the move before the weekend.

As soon as the news went public, fans noticed something interesting: Hojlund had liked a post confirming Sesko’s transfer. Soon after, it was spotted that Zirkzee had done the same thing.

These reactions have sparked debates among fans. Was it a friendly welcome to their new teammate? Or a subtle sign that both players are ready for competition?

Last season, both Zirkzee and Hojlund struggled to score consistently. United’s goal tally in the Premier League was only 44 goals in 38 games, their lowest ever in the competition. They also finished in 15th place, a huge drop from the club’s historic standards.

Only Everton and the three relegated teams: Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City, scored fewer goals than United. This lack of attacking power was a key reason for the push to sign Sesko.

The arrival of a new main striker naturally raised questions about Hojlund’s future at the club. Some speculated that he might be sold to make room for Sesko.

However, Hojlund was quick to respond during United’s recent pre-season tour. The Danish striker made it clear he is staying put.

“I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens,” Hojlund told reporters.

The 22-year-old reminded fans that he is still young and developing.

“I’m only 22. Obviously, not every striker is scoring 100 goals at the age of 22 like Erling Haaland. But I’ve learned a lot, and I think you can see it in my game. I’m starting to get better in the basics, and now it’s about sharpening myself.”

Hojlund also spoke positively about competition within the squad.

“Competition is fine with me. It sharpens me. I’m ready for it. I think competition is good for the team. I feel sharp and I’m welcoming everything that comes.”

Zirkzee has not made any public comments yet, but his quiet “like” on social media has been enough to fuel speculation about his thoughts on Sesko’s arrival.

Fans have split opinions. Some believe Zirkzee and Hojlund are ready to team up with Sesko to create a dangerous attacking trio. Others think one of them may eventually lose their place in the starting XI.

The deal for Sesko shows Manchester United are serious about fixing their scoring problems. Signing three attackers in one summer is a big statement after such a poor league campaign.

Now, the big question is: will this new strike force deliver the goals United desperately need? The answer will start to unfold once Sesko officially puts on the famous red shirt and steps onto the pitch.

One thing is certain: with Zirkzee, Hojlund, Cunha, Mbeumo, and now Sesko, Manchester United’s front line will be one of the most talked-about stories going into the new season.
