Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is not happy with his team’s recent performance. After a 2-2 draw with Everton in their last Premier League Summer Series game, he said the team looked “lazy” and asked the club to sign better players. Now, new manager Ruben Amorim has responded.

Although Manchester United won the tournament with that draw, Fernandes believed the team should have done much better. He scored one of the goals, while Mason Mount scored the other. But United gave up their lead twice, with goals from Iliman Ndiaye and an own goal by Ayden Heaven helping Everton fight back.

After the match in Atlanta, Fernandes did not hold back. He said, “It’s improving, but it’s not where we want it to be.” He said the team lacked energy and sharpness and called for changes.

“We looked a bit lazy today and we need to change that,” Fernandes said. “We needed more quality to get everyone to step up a bit more. I think that’s what the club and the manager are trying to do.”

He also said the US tour had been a good time for bonding. “It’s been positive, and it’s good to create a bond with the players,” he added. “But we still have a lot to improve if we want to fight for big trophies.”

The midfielder wants the club to bring in more competition. He believes that having better players will make everyone try harder to keep their place in the starting eleven.

Ruben Amorim, who recently took over as Manchester United manager, was asked about Fernandes’ harsh comments. Instead of being angry, he welcomed them.

“I’m happy for the players to have that feeling,” Amorim replied. “It means they understand the situation. So it’s a good feeling.”

Amorim added that football is full of highs and lows, especially at a big club like Manchester United. “In this club, everything is ups and downs,” he said. “But I prefer this kind of pressure, where players demand more.”

When speaking about the Everton game, Amorim admitted that the team didn’t play very well. However, he was pleased they still managed to create chances, which shows progress.

“You can struggle a bit in a game and still win if you create chances,” he explained. “That’s important. Even in this match, we created chances. That matters.”

Amorim said that consistency is something they are working on. He also reminded everyone that the team had only two weeks of preparation and progress will take time.

“We already knew that we had two weeks,” he said. “This will not change in two weeks, but we are better.”

He praised the environment during the US tour. “It was a good environment, with a good feeling,” Amorim said. “Now we go back to Carrington to prepare for the season.”

“The momentum of the tour was perfect,” he continued. “Now we return with the feeling that we have to work hard and do more.”

Amorim said he understands the pressure to perform but believes the players are on the right path. He welcomes the captain’s honesty and believes it will push the whole team to improve.

Manchester United fans are now wondering whether the club’s directors will listen to Fernandes. Will they bring in the new players he believes are needed?

Fernandes is known for being direct and passionate. His latest comments could be a message not only to his teammates but also to the club’s leadership.

If the club makes new signings soon, fans will likely credit Fernandes for speaking out. But if nothing changes, tensions may grow.

With Amorim showing confidence and Fernandes demanding more, Manchester United’s preseason drama could lead to big changes, or more frustration.

The upcoming weeks will reveal whether the Red Devils are ready to fight for trophies or if deeper problems remain at Old Trafford.
