Man Utd Close in on £63M Bryan Mbeumo Coup as Brentford Drop Massive Transfer Hint!

Manchester United’s relentless pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo is finally nearing a breakthrough, as Brentford appear to soften their stance in a saga that has kept fans on edge all summer.

The Red Devils, who have already spent big on Matheus Cunha (£62.5m) and watched Anthony Elanga head to Newcastle for £55m, are now poised to land their primary winger target.

After rejecting two earlier bids, Brentford had held firm on their £63 million valuation of Cameroon international Mbeumo. But in a major development, the Bees are now preparing for life without their star man.

According to the Evening Standard, Brentford have identified Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement.

Although no formal approach has been made, the move signals a dramatic shift in Brentford’s position. Hutchinson, just 21, signed for Ipswich last summer from Chelsea in a club-record £22.5m deal.

Despite Ipswich’s relegation, Hutchinson showed promise with three goals and two assists in 31 appearances.

His desire to return to London could work in Brentford’s favor, especially as Chelsea, despite having a buy-back clause, are unlikely to block the deal. The Blues have already bolstered their wing options this summer, signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and wonderkid Estevao Willian from Palmeiras.

With Brentford already losing head coach Thomas Frank to Tottenham (replaced by Keith Andrews) and captain Christian Norgaard to Arsenal, the potential exits of Mbeumo and striker Yoane Wissa threaten to shake the core of the west London club.

However, Brentford’s long-standing reputation for smart recruitment remains intact, and the Hutchinson interest reflects that.

Bryan Mbeumo, who netted 20 Premier League goals from the right wing in the 2024/25 season, has reportedly expressed his preference to leave. Still, Brentford Director of Football Phil Giles insists the club is not desperate to sell.

“There’s significant interest in Bryan,” Giles told Sky Sports. “His preference has been spoken about, but he’s also happy to stay if needed. He had an unbelievable season, so naturally there’s interest. If the deal is right, we’ll do it. If not, he stays.”

Giles remained firm but realistic: “We’ve had conversations with Bryan and his reps. It’s not a given that he’s leaving this summer, but the right offer could change everything.”

With all eyes now on Manchester United, a deal could be announced sooner rather than later. For Brentford, the era of Mbeumo may be coming to an end, and the torch could soon pass to Omari Hutchinson.
