China has sent a strong message to the world after launching intense military exercises near the island of Taiwan. These drills have raised global attention and renewed debates about peace, sovereignty, and security in East Asia.

The Chinese military announced that the exercises are legal, planned, and necessary. According to Beijing, they are meant to stop foreign interference and warn those who support Taiwan’s independence.

The drills began on December 29, 2025, in areas surrounding Taiwan. They are part of a major operation called “Justice Mission 2025.” This is one of the most serious military exercises China has carried out near the island in recent times.

China says the exercises are its right as a sovereign nation. The government insists that Taiwan is part of China and that protecting national unity is a core responsibility of the state.

Beijing believes it must make sure all its borders are well protected. From its point of view, any challenge to this position is a threat to national integrity.

Shi Yi, spokesperson of the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese military, explained the goal of the drills. He said the exercises are “a strong warning to people who support Taiwan independence and to countries that interfere in China’s internal affairs.”

Shi Yi also stressed that the drills are both necessary and appropriate. According to him, they are meant to defend China’s unity and sovereignty.

China argues that the Taiwan issue is an internal matter. For this reason, it says no foreign country has the right to interfere or take sides.

However, several European countries have expressed concern. They say the military exercises could affect freedom of navigation in the region, including airspace and international waters.

These countries worry that such actions could increase tension and risk accidents involving civilian ships or aircraft.

China has rejected these concerns. Beijing insists that the exercises are conducted in a lawful and controlled manner.

Chinese authorities say the drills do not block international shipping routes. They also claim the exercises do not threaten civilian flights or create instability in the region.

Despite these assurances, China has openly stated that the exercises are very important. They are designed to prepare its forces for different scenarios if the Taiwan situation becomes more serious.

The drills include training for naval combat, air operations, port blockades, and taking control of strategic areas. These are all actions that could be used in a real conflict.

This show of military strength comes at a time of rising disagreement between China and countries that support Taiwan’s self-rule.

Japan and the United States are among the countries that have openly supported Taiwan. China sees this support as direct interference.

Beijing has warned that involvement in the Taiwan issue could seriously damage relations between China and these countries.

For China, Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory. This position has been repeated many times by Chinese leaders.

On the other hand, many people in Taiwan believe the island is already an independent country. This difference in views remains the core of the conflict.

As “Justice Mission 2025” continues, the world is watching closely. The situation around Taiwan remains one of the most sensitive and dangerous geopolitical issues today.
