“Forever in Our Hearts”: Diogo Jota’s Heartbreaking Final Post Shared Hours Before His Tragic Death Leaves Fans in Tears

In a tragedy that has sent shockwaves through the football world, Liverpool star Diogo Jota shared a deeply emotional video of his wedding just hours before he and his brother André Silva died in a horrific car crash in Zamora, Spain. 

The 28-year-old forward, adored by fans for his passion and attacking flair, posted a tender Instagram video captioned “A day we will never forget,” a tribute to his fairytale wedding to longtime partner Rute Cardoso, held just ten days ago in their hometown of Porto. 

Jota and Rute, who had been together for more than a decade and shared three children, tied the knot in a glamorous ceremony surrounded by friends and family. The couple first met in their teenage years and became inseparable. Jota proposed in 2022 in a dreamy lakeside setting, capturing the hearts of fans across Portugal and beyond. 

The couple’s wedding video featured radiant images of Rute in a stunning white dress and Jota in a sharp navy suit, smiling proudly beside their children. One especially touching photo showed the pair walking hand-in-hand down the aisle, showered in rose petals and love. “My dream come true,” Rute wrote in a later post, to which Jota replied simply: “I’m the lucky one.” 

In May, Rute had shared joyful family photos from the Anfield pitch following Liverpool’s title win. She and the children wore Liverpool shirts as they posed with Jota and the Premier League trophy. Her caption included the famous words from the club’s anthem: “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Now, those words carry a heartbreaking weight.

Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajčetić became the first teammate to speak out, posting a simple message: “I’m lost for words. Rest easy, brother.” 

Born in Porto, Diogo Jota’s career was marked by perseverance and passion. He began his professional journey with Paços de Ferreira in 2015, later joining Atletico Madrid in 2016. Though he never made a La Liga appearance, he impressed during a loan spell at FC Porto, scoring eight goals. 

In 2017, he signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan before the move became permanent for £12 million. His brilliance in the Championship quickly turned heads, and in 2020, he was snapped up by Jurgen Klopp for a reported £45 million. 

During his five seasons at Liverpool, Jota scored 47 Premier League goals, proving crucial in their capture of the Premier League, FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups. He played with fiery determination, equally comfortable on the left wing or as a centre forward.
