In a very sad story from Kenya, Member of County Assembly (MCA) Duncan Wangama is facing the most painful time of his life. Just days after saying goodbye to his wife, he has now lost his newborn baby girl.

Wangama, who is the MCA of Wusi-Kishamba Ward in Taita Taveta County, had already gone viral last week after pictures of him crying during his wife’s funeral touched many hearts online.

His wife, Stella Wangama, died while giving birth to their baby girl, Judy. Her sudden death shocked the community and left many people offering support and prayers to Wangama and his family.

But just as he was beginning to grieve her loss, tragedy struck again. Baby Judy, the daughter his wife left behind, has also died, only a few days after being born.

The heartbreaking news was shared online by a family elder, Mzee Savalanga, who confirmed that baby Judy passed away on Sunday morning, July 20, 2025.

“Dear friends, with a heavy and broken heart, I inform you we have lost baby Judy this morning. We ask for your prayers specifically for our brother Wangama Duncan,” he posted.

MCA Wangama also posted on Facebook to express his deep pain. He wrote, “Oh my God, why all these. My daughter Judy mbona?” (meaning “why” in Swahili). His words showed just how broken he feels.

Mzee Savalanga added that baby Judy’s burial would take place on Monday, July 21. He invited people to join the family in supporting the burial plans.

He also shared a phone number for anyone who wishes to help financially: Patrick Mwakufu can be reached on 0716132294 to receive support for the funeral.

The news of baby Judy’s passing has deeply touched many Kenyans online. Social media is full of messages of support, encouragement, and prayers.

Athanas Mbele Mwachia wrote: “Pole sana, brother. My heartfelt condolences. May God give you comfort, strength, and peace.”

Another Kenyan, Betty Mwakireti, reminded him of the story of Job from the Bible. She wrote, “Take heart, my brother… In His own time, God will restore everything.”

Jesline Mbandi commented, “Jesus… This cup is painful. Have mercy, oh Lord.”

Jacob Kombe shared a touching message too: “Dear Hon. Wangama… may you find strength in the love surrounding you, and peace in the memories that will forever live in your heart.”

Many people, even those who don’t know Wangama personally, are feeling the pain with him. They are uniting in prayer and sending kind words during this unimaginable loss.

Even Wangama’s fellow leaders have come forward to support him. One of them is Bura MCA Anthony Mng’ambwa. He said his heart was broken for his colleague.

“My heart breaks for my colleague and brother, Hon. Duncan Wangama… There are no words deep enough for such sorrow,” he said. “I stand with you in prayer and solidarity.”

The Taita Taveta County Assembly had earlier released a statement after Stella’s death, showing support for Wangama and his family.

It read: “On behalf of the Members of the County Assembly and the staff of the County Assembly of Taita Taveta, I express our deepest sympathies to Hon. Wangama for his immense loss.”

Stella Wangama died shortly after giving birth due to delivery complications. Her death shocked many people in the community and left her family in pain.

Now, with both mother and child gone, Duncan Wangama is carrying a very heavy burden. But the love and support he is receiving from across the country are powerful.

Many people are now calling for the public to continue helping Wangama through donations, kind words, and prayers.

While words cannot bring his loved ones back, they can help give him the strength to carry on. The country is watching and standing by him as he faces this dark time.

This heartbreaking double tragedy reminds us how precious and fragile life is. It also shows the power of community, that in sorrow, we are never alone.
