A Guardian Angel bus ferrying students alongside other passengers was involved in a road accident on Tuesday morning at Kimende along the busy Nairobi–Nakuru (Naivasha) Highway, sparking moments of panic but fortunately resulting in no fatalities.

The bus was travelling along the highway when it reportedly lost control before overturning and landing on its side by the roadside. The incident occurred during the return-to-school period, a time when highways experience increased traffic as students and travellers head back to their destinations.

At least ten students sustained injuries, most of them described as minor, and were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment. Other passengers on board also suffered shock and minor injuries, while several escaped unhurt.

Witnesses said residents and fellow motorists quickly rushed to the scene to help evacuate both the students and other passengers trapped inside the bus.

Photos from the scene showed the bus lying on its side with shattered windows, highlighting the severity of the crash. Despite the damage, the incident was widely described as an escape by a whisker, given that no lives were lost.

Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash.Traffic along the highway was temporarily disrupted as recovery operations were carried out.

The accident has renewed concerns over road safety on major highways, particularly during school travel periods, with calls for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and regular inspection of vehicles transporting students and members of the public.
