Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has come under fire following a controversial social media post that has sparked fury among fans and former players, raising fresh doubts over his Old Trafford future.
The 21-year-old winger, who recently found himself on the fringes under manager Ruben Amorim, shared a photo online wearing an Aston Villa shirt bearing Marcus Rashford’s name and number.

The move, widely interpreted as a public jab at the United boss, has drawn sharp criticism from former United striker Louis Saha, who says Roy Keane would have “crunched” Garnacho in training for such a stunt.
Speaking in a no-holds-barred interview with Coin Poker, Saha didn’t hold back:

“Back in my day, I think Roy would have welcomed Garnacho back to the training ground with a few crunching tackles to help him understand what he thought of him,” said the Frenchman.
Saha’s fiery comments reflect a wider frustration among United legends about the current generation’s lack of discipline. He blamed not only Garnacho but the environment at Manchester United for enabling such behavior.
“It’s the type of thing we see from new generations. Garnacho thinks he’s earned the right to make demands, to act without respect, but he hasn’t.”
Garnacho’s fall from grace has been rapid. He was axed from the squad in United’s 1-0 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in Bilbao, and later took to social media to criticize Amorim’s decision, a move that reportedly sealed his fate at the club. United are now open to selling the £50m-rated Argentina international this summer.
“He already thinks he’s a top player,” added Saha. “He’s been let down because the club has given him too much responsibility too early.”
Saha contrasted Garnacho’s attitude with legends like Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Gary Neville, players who, according to him, earned their status through consistent performance and respect for the club.
Asked whether a Garnacho-for-Nkunku swap with Chelsea could benefit all parties, Saha was clear:
“Everyone can benefit from the move. Nkunku is a player who’s focused, motivated, and doesn’t bring drama. Garnacho, if he wants to go, let him go.”
He added that even if United take a financial hit on Garnacho, the long-term benefits of having a united, focused dressing room outweigh the losses.
“I used to be a huge fan of Garnacho, but that’s over. You don’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there. Bring in someone who does.”
Saha’s comments also underscore a larger issue haunting Manchester United, the absence of strong leadership.
“Keane, Beckham, Neville, they wouldn’t tolerate this. Those were leaders. That’s what this club is missing.”
With Amorim reportedly fed up with Garnacho’s attitude and the board ready to cash in, the winger’s United exit looks increasingly inevitable.
