Geoffrey Mosiria has issued a detailed press statement responding to growing online discussion and speculation regarding his alleged involvement in a case concerning a woman who had sought assistance from his office.
The statement, shared via his Instagram Stories, comes amid sustained debate on social media about his conduct. Mosiria said he chose to address the matter openly and factually, emphasizing that leadership demands transparency, courage, and accountability to the public.
He began by acknowledging the concerns raised by Nairobi residents, stating that his role as a public servant obliges him to respond clearly and honestly whenever questions arise about his actions. According to Mosiria, the issue dates back to January 16, 2026, when a woman approached his office seeking assistance in what he described as her pursuit of justice.
Mosiria clarified that he had no prior relationship with the woman and that his involvement was strictly limited to his official duties. He explained that he followed established government procedures, intervening only to ensure that her concerns were directed through the appropriate legal channels.
“Following standard procedure, I intervened solely to ensure her concerns were directed through the appropriate legal channels. Nothing more, nothing less,” he stated.
Addressing claims circulating online about the woman’s background, Mosiria said he had since encountered multiple narratives that he described as misleading. He stressed that government institutions do not judge, profile, or deny justice to any individual based on personal history or public perception. He underscored that dignity, equality before the law, and access to justice are fundamental principles that apply to every citizen without exception.
“Our responsibility is to uphold dignity, guarantee access to justice, and serve all citizens equitably. This principle is absolute,” the statement read.
Mosiria further alleged that the matter had been misrepresented, accusing unnamed individuals of attempting to discredit him and divert attention from what he described as important work being carried out for the people of Nairobi. He maintained that personal attacks and rumours would not distract him from fulfilling his official responsibilities.
Clarifying his current position, Mosiria stated that the issue is no longer under his office’s jurisdiction. He explained that his involvement ended after receiving the complaint and forwarding it to the relevant authorities, who now bear full responsibility for the matter.
“The matter now rests with those authorities and, ultimately, with God,” he noted.
Following reflection and consultation, Mosiria announced that he had chosen to step aside from any further association with the matter in order to safeguard public confidence and protect institutional integrity. He emphasized that this decision should not be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing or a retreat from his duties.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to public service, stating that he remains focused, resolute, and dedicated to serving the people of Nairobi despite the ongoing public scrutiny.
