As Viktor Gyokeres edges closer to a sensational £63.6 million move to Arsenal, the Sporting Lisbon striker and his girlfriend Ines Aguiar have reportedly made a mega-money decision, and it’s not about football.
Despite being on the verge of returning to England, the couple is going full steam ahead with plans to build a lavish home in Portugal, proving their long-term commitment to life in the Iberian nation.

The Sweden international, who has taken Portuguese football by storm since joining Sporting from Coventry City, has become Arsenal’s top target this summer.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is determined to bring in a prolific frontman to help end the club’s Premier League title drought, and Gyokeres fits the bill with a jaw-dropping 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Lisbon giants, including two league titles and a Taca de Portugal.

While the move is yet to be officially sealed, all signs point to Gyokeres preparing to depart. CNN Portugal captured scenes of removal vans outside his Costa de Caparica home this week, with a friend from Sweden reportedly coordinating the logistics.
Gyokeres himself is currently in Stockholm, awaiting updates as he skips Sporting’s pre-season training, behavior that could result in a substantial fine from the club.
But amid the transfer drama, a very different kind of commitment is making headlines. Portuguese broadcaster CMTV’s Noite das Estrelas revealed that Gyokeres and Ines Aguiar, a Portuguese actress he has been dating since early 2024, are moving forward with an expensive real estate project in the picturesque Sesimbra region near Lisbon.
Despite earlier rumors of a breakup, their relationship appears stronger than ever, now symbolized by their decision to invest heavily in a luxury home.
The striker’s dazzling form has drawn attention from Manchester United, Juventus, and several Saudi clubs, but Arsenal are believed to be leading the race.
They’ve already secured signings including Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, Brentford’s Christian Norgaard, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Gyokeres is expected to be the cherry on top of their ambitious summer rebuild.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas, however, has pushed back against pressure to rush the deal. Speaking to Lusa news agency, he warned: “If the geniuses who are devising this strategy think that this puts pressure on me to facilitate the exit, they are not only completely wrong but are also making the player’s exit even more complicated. No one is above the club’s interests.”
Gyokeres might soon be wearing red and white, but his roots, and heart, seem firmly planted in Portugal. Whether leading the line at the Emirates or building a future on the beaches of Sesimbra, the 27-year-old is making power moves on and off the pitch.
