During the Rwanda convention held in Texas-Dallas from July 4th-6th, Eric seized the opportunity to present his book, “Breaking Boundaries.” Dressed in a T-shirt emblazoned with the hashtag “#IamBridge,” he actively engaged with both media and attendees, passionately advocating for the significance of this impactful event.
Eric made it abundantly clear that he has a profound connection to Rwanda, proudly highlighting his Rwandan roots as a Congolese individual with Rwandan expression. He asserted the vital need for unity among Africans, emphasizing that our shared culture, values, and mother tongue with Rwandan bind us as brothers and sisters.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Eric recounted the pivotal role Rwanda played in his life, providing refuge when he was forced to flee his homeland DRC at the age of nine and spend his childhood in a refugee camp.

He expressed unwavering gratitude for his survival while acknowledging the ongoing struggles faced by hundreds individuals in his community living in refuge camp in Rwanda and abroad. Eric’s commitment to advocating for a brighter future and a return in Kivu is resolute.
In his book, he calls on leaders, decision-makers, and civil society to unite in transforming Kivu in Eastern DRC Congo into a safe haven for returning community members. Eric, deeply connected to both nations, conveys his profound sadness over the ongoing conflict between these neighboring countries.
He identifies himself, along with fellow Congolese refugees in Rwanda, as catalysts for positive change and unity. Their mission is clear: to act as a bridge linking the two countries, rather than being walls or barriers.

On the occasion of America’s Independence Day, July 4th, Eric expressed gratitude for the support from leaders such as President Trump and the Qatar administration in their efforts toward peace negotiations. American is determined to pursue a lasting resolution that would enable thousands of refugees and internally displaced individuals in the DRC to return home.
Eric advocates for the transformative power of free trade and the movement of people in Africa as a decisive means to address the lingering impacts of colonization and artificial borders, which is among the key root causes of the conflict in Kivu /DRC.
