The Social Health Authority (SHA) has started releasing KSh11.1 billion to healthcare providers to settle verified claims submitted under the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
In a statement issued by Mercy Mwangangi, the Chief Executive Officer of the authority, the agency confirmed that the payments will be disbursed in several batches. This approach is intended to facilitate an orderly and efficient transfer of funds to contracted medical facilities across the country.
According to the authority, the payment cycle is expected to continue throughout the coming week, with the process scheduled to be completed by Thursday, March 19.
SHA assured healthcare institutions that all claims that have been successfully processed and approved under the fund will be cleared within this payment window.
The disbursement forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the healthcare system and maintain uninterrupted delivery of medical services through the national health insurance programme.
Healthcare providers have been advised to allow adequate time for batch processing and normal inter-bank clearing procedures before raising concerns regarding payments.
The authority further requested facilities to wait until Thursday before making inquiries about any pending claims.
“Should any facility fail to receive payment for approved claims by the end of this disbursement cycle, our dedicated support teams will be available starting Friday, March 20, 2026, to provide clarification and assist with reconciliation,” the statement added.
