In a year marked by cultural renewal and community resilience, the renowned Banyamulenge comedy and arts group Lewis P Team is preparing to host a historic event the “Mulenge Festival Mbarara 2025” set to take place on December 18, 2025, at Bible Institute Hall, Mbarara (Nyamityobora) in Uganda.
The festival aims to unite artists, comedians, and young people from the Banyamulenge community, particularly those born and raised in exile, in a vibrant celebration of culture, talent, and identity. Through music, comedy, and motivational sessions, the event seeks to reconnect the youth with their roots and inspire them to believe in their potential.
Speaking to Afrovera.com, members of the Lewis P Team explained that the idea behind the festival was born out of concern for the growing detachment of many young Banyamulenge from their cultural identity.
“Many of our children were born in exile and grew up in different countries. They’ve adopted other cultures and often don’t know what it truly means to be Banyamulenge,” said one member. “Our goal is to educate them about who we are, to remind them that even though we don’t have a country to call our own, we still have values, traditions, and talents that give us hope for the future.”

The group highlighted the social struggles faced by displaced youth, noting how some have turned to despair and self-destructive habits.
“We’ve seen many young people lose hope some fall into drug abuse, others into prostitution or idleness because they feel like they don’t belong anywhere,” another member told Afrovera. “With Mulenge Festival, we want to restore hope and show them that every talent, no matter how small, can build a future. No one should ever feel useless.”
The event will feature performances from well-known comedians and musicians including Rumi Rwa Gaju, Seth Seka, Nzovu, Rutazunguzwa, Sam Jay Six, Nyamitte, Tresor, and Bozi Bozi. The master of ceremonies will be Notable M, while Bishop Charles will serve as the keynote speaker and spiritual guest, delivering a message centered on patriotism, faith, and the power of talent.
“We all have something to learn from one another,” said Bishop Charles in a statement shared with Afrovera.com. “No one was born to be left behind. When young people believe in their God-given gifts and use them wisely, they can change the story of their community and their nation.”
The Lewis P Team emphasized that Mulenge Festival is not merely about entertainment but also a call to unity, peace, and love of country even for those without one.
“Loving your country starts with loving yourself and your origins,” one of the members explained. “We may not have a nation of our own yet, but we have a spirit of peace, hard work, and hope and that is our true culture.”
Tickets for the event are priced at UGX 5,000 for regular entry and UGX 10,000 for VIP access. Organizers promise a colorful blend of cultural music, comedy, and poetic performances carrying strong messages of inspiration and growth.
During Afrovera.com’s visit to the team’s rehearsal sessions, there was a visible sense of passion and purpose. The energy among the artists reflected a deeper message that Mulenge Festival is not just a stage event, but also a symbol of survival, identity, and pride.
“This is more than a show,” one performer concluded. “It’s a platform for us to come together, to laugh, to learn, and to remind ourselves who we are. No one will preserve our culture unless we do it ourselves.”
Expected to be one of the most uplifting cultural gatherings of 2025 for the Banyamulenge community and their friends across East Africa, Mulenge Festival Mbarara 2025 led by Lewis P Team stands as a beacon of unity, creativity, and renewed hope.
