Liverpool’s £116M Star Speaks Out as Isak Slammed and Diaz Snubbed: What’s Really Happening Behind the Transfers?

Liverpool fans are buzzing ahead of the new season, but things off the pitch are just as exciting as on it. The Reds have already made big moves in the transfer window, but drama still surrounds key players. A £116 million signing, a frustrated Swedish striker, and a former player’s warning from Germany, here’s everything happening around Liverpool right now.

Florian Wirtz, the exciting young midfielder who joined Liverpool this summer, is already making headlines. The German star joined the Premier League champions from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that could reach £116 million if certain add-ons are met. That would make Wirtz the most expensive signing in Liverpool history, even more than what Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo.

But Wirtz doesn’t seem worried. After a friendly game against Athletic Bilbao, he told reporters that the high price tag means nothing to him. “It doesn’t matter,” he said calmly. “I just want to help my team and enjoy playing football.”

While Wirtz is settling in well, Liverpool are still chasing another big name, Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. The Swedish striker has shown interest in joining Liverpool, but Newcastle don’t want to let him go easily. Their asking price is still much higher than Liverpool’s first offer, which was recently rejected.

To make the move possible, Newcastle might first have to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Manchester United are also interested in Sesko, so Newcastle are in a race to get him first. Only then might they consider letting Isak leave.

But Isak’s behavior has upset some football legends. Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has criticized Isak for not showing respect to his Newcastle teammates during this time. Wright-Phillips said Isak should keep training and supporting his team until a deal is done.

“You’ve been with those guys for years,” said Wright-Phillips. “Show them some respect. You want to leave — fine. But train, then go home. Don’t create drama.”

Wright-Phillips believes Isak is handling things poorly and might hurt his own reputation. “You’re not affecting the club management. You’re affecting the players, your friends. That’s wrong.”

As if that wasn’t enough, another name has popped back into Liverpool conversations, Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger recently left Anfield for Bayern Munich in a £65 million deal. Diaz had two years left on his contract but wanted a new one. When Liverpool didn’t offer him a new deal, he pushed for a move.

Bayern agreed to sign him, and he is now in Germany. However, he has already received a reminder from Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus. Speaking to Bild, Matthaus said, “Diaz is a good player, but he wasn’t our first choice.”

That comment stings. It shows that Bayern wanted other players before Diaz and only turned to him after being rejected by others. It’s a cold welcome, and one that Diaz and his agents probably didn’t expect.

Back in Liverpool, the focus is shifting to the FA Community Shield match against Crystal Palace at Wembley. New manager Arne Slot will be hoping to lift silverware in his first official game. Fans are excited, and the team is looking sharp.

But even as the players prepare for Wembley, the transfer news continues to swirl. Liverpool’s summer spending is already at £265 million, with Wirtz being the biggest name. Whether Isak joins remains to be seen.

The club’s big summer changes show that they are not settling after winning the Premier League. They want to stay at the top, and that means signing the best, even if it leads to drama.

Behind the scenes, there’s pressure too. Wirtz has to prove he’s worth the huge fee. Isak must decide whether to fight for Newcastle or force a move. Diaz, meanwhile, will have to prove himself in a team where he wasn’t first choice.

These stories remind fans that football isn’t just about goals and trophies, it’s also about loyalty, pride, ambition, and respect.

Liverpool have already done some incredible business. But with weeks left in the transfer window, more surprises could be on the way.

Will Wirtz become a legend? Will Isak wear the red shirt next? And will Diaz shine in Germany or regret his move? One thing is clear, the transfer drama is far from over.
