According to the communiqué signed by Mr. Douglas G. Kabunda, President of MPA-USA, the organization reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to standing for peace and resisting the systematic violence, mass killings, and targeted persecution that continue to affect Banyamulenge populations in South Kivu, North Kivu, and Ituri.

A Call to Peaceful Action

In the statement, MPA emphasizes that the international community and regional stakeholders must be reminded of the persistent genocidal acts being perpetrated against the Banyamulenge. The communiqué highlights ongoing massacres in the highlands of South Kivu, where armed groups have continued to attack Banyamulenge villages, destroy property, and drive families from their ancestral lands.

MPA notes that despite years of advocacy, documented reports, and humanitarian appeals, the violence remains largely unaddressed. Therefore, as a unified community response, the Association has scheduled peaceful demonstrationsreferred to as “Icyumweru cy’Amahoro”to be held from November 23 to 28, 2025.

These demonstrations will take place across all regions where Banyamulenge families and diaspora communities reside, serving both as a peaceful expression of solidarity and a collective plea for protection, justice, and international intervention.

Guidelines Issued to Participants

The MPA leadership outlined several directives for Banyamulenge families, youth, and supporters preparing to take part in the peaceful marches:

Local authorization: Participants living in rural or sensitive areas are advised to seek necessary clearance from local authorities to ensure the demonstrations remain lawful and orderly.

Community mobilization: All familiesincluding parents, youth, students, and friends of the Banyamulenge communityare encouraged to mobilize and attend the scheduled demonstrations.

Adherence to order: All actions must remain peaceful, disciplined, and aligned with community values to avoid conflict with local security agencies.

The statement also confirms that no participation fees or financial contributions will be requested from community members. All related support will be handled through recognized community structures in coordination with MPA.

Appeal to Global Banyamulenge Networks and Allies

In a strongly worded appeal, MPA urges all Banyamulenge associations, mutualités, and global partnersincluding friends, allies, and humanitarian advocatesto join hands in amplifying the collective resistance against ongoing violence.

The Association stresses that unity, coordinated advocacy, and peaceful mobilization remain essential tools in reminding the world that the suffering of the Banyamulenge is a human rights crisis that demands urgent attention.

A Message of Resolve

From Phoenix, Arizona, President Douglas G. Kabunda affirmed MPA’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and existence of the Banyamulenge:

“We call upon all our people and friends worldwide to stand with us during this crucial moment. Our peaceful demonstrations are a powerful reminder that despite the hardships, we remain united, resilient, and committed to pursuing justice through non-violent means.”

As the dates draw near, Banyamulenge communities globally are preparing to engage in a week of unified, peaceful demonstrations aimed at raising awareness, seeking accountability, and calling for an end to the atrocities that have persisted for decades.
