Just days after losing his wife, a 41-year-old Nigerian man shocked the public by announcing on Facebook that he was already looking for a new wife. What made things worse? His late wife, Glory, hadn’t even been buried when he made the post.
The heartbreaking and controversial story has taken the internet by storm. Many are asking: How soon is too soon to move on? But for “Brian” (not his real name), waiting was not an option.

His search for a new partner while investigations into his wife’s suspicious death were still ongoing has stirred emotions, criticism, and anger from across Nigeria and beyond.
In his Facebook post, Brian introduced himself as a “God-fearing” widower with no children and expressed hope of finding a woman to praise God with and eventually build a family.

“Good morning, God-fearing faithful. I come from Nigeria and I am 41 years old. I am a widower, no kids yet, but hoping to have some someday. Let’s praise God together and feel free to message. I need a God-fearing woman,” his post read.
The timing couldn’t have been worse. His wife, Glory, had just died, her body not yet laid to rest, and the community wasn’t ready for such a shocking twist.
Social media erupted. Many commenters called his post “heartless,” “suspicious,” and even “evil.” Questions about his true intentions and past behavior toward Glory started pouring in.
Then came the real bombshell.
Roberta Edu, Glory’s boss, spoke up publicly. According to her, the moment she announced Glory’s death, friends and family of the deceased began sending her messages about alleged abuse Glory had suffered in her marriage.
“They shared different stories of the alleged abuse this girl suffered at the hands of her husband,” Roberta shared.
Worried about what she was hearing, Roberta contacted Glory’s family directly, and they confirmed the abuse. From there, the matter turned criminal. With the help of lawyers and Glory’s friends, Roberta helped the family file a case with the police.
An autopsy was carried out. Its findings were deeply disturbing. Glory had not died from natural causes.
“She had a deep crack in her skull. Blood had flowed from the crack to her throat,” Roberta revealed.
This revelation painted a dark picture and triggered urgent demands for justice. However, the path to accountability was not easy. Roberta shared that bribery attempts were made by Brian’s family to silence the process, though she refused to be involved.
“We focused on getting the police to do the right thing. I even had to escalate the matter to Police Headquarters in Abuja due to a corrupt counterpart in Ikot Akpan Abia,” she said.
Eventually, the police sent the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further legal action. But then came a twist few expected.
Despite the autopsy and abuse reports, Glory’s own family withdrew the charges. They claimed they didn’t believe Brian could have hurt their daughter. Under pressure from the family, Roberta stepped aside and the case crumbled.
Brian was released.
Shockingly, just a week after being freed, and with Glory still not buried, he was back on Facebook, now searching for a wife.
People couldn’t believe it.
“This is wickedness. No shame, no remorse, not even respect for the dead,” one user commented.
Glory’s burial is scheduled for August 1. But Brian’s post made many wonder whether justice was ever truly served, or if Glory’s death would go unpunished.
Meanwhile, in a completely different case, a Nairobi man named Mike Mbugua also made headlines for starting a wife search online. But unlike Brian, Mike’s situation involved heartbreak, not death.
Mike shared that the woman he loved had been secretly married to another man. He’s now looking for a serious woman, over 30 years old, who wants to settle down for life. His post received support, unlike the backlash Brian faced.
The two stories highlight the thin line between moving on and being insensitive, and the heavy emotions tied to love, loss, and betrayal.
As the date of Glory’s burial approaches, many are still asking: Did she get the justice she deserved? Or will her death be just another tragic headline buried with her?
