Former Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has delivered a bombshell prediction that is sure to rattle Old Trafford. In a bold statement that has ignited fierce debate across football circles, Pardew suggested Manchester United could find themselves entangled in a Premier League relegation battle this season.
Speaking candidly, Pardew warned, “All the teams in that bottom ten including Man United. You need to have an eye on that club. You’ve got five big first-team players training on their own. That does not send the right message to the rest of the players at the training ground, because what players feel is that, ‘one day that might be me.’”

His comments spotlight a growing crisis of morale and mismanagement within Ruben Amorim’s side. Manchester United’s pre-season woes and questionable squad dynamics are raising eyebrows, and not just among pundits.
Pardew didn’t hold back, adding, “They’ve brought in the top player from Wolves. Great technical ability, but that wasn’t the big issue. The issue is keeping goals out, and at the moment they haven’t changed much from that. It all hinges on moving these five players, it’s almost like a fire sale at the moment.”

Manchester United kicked off their pre-season with a 0-0 draw against Leeds United in Stockholm, Sweden, hardly a confidence-inspiring start.
New £62.5 million signing Matheus Cunha made his debut, starting in a No.10 role from the left at the Strawberry Arena. Despite a few promising touches, the Brazilian’s influence on the game was minimal in a match where Leeds created the better chances.
Youngster Diego Leon also made his debut at left-wing back. The coaching staff at Carrington are said to be impressed with the rising star, and manager Ruben Amorim appears ready to give him further opportunities throughout pre-season. However, despite these bright sparks, United’s performance was far from convincing.
With a disjointed squad, morale concerns, and little improvement in defensive solidity, the situation at United is beginning to raise genuine concern.
Pardew’s comments may sound extreme, but they echo a growing sentiment: If drastic changes aren’t made, Manchester United’s 2025/26 campaign could be one of the most turbulent in the club’s modern history.
