Manchester United are back in action, this time in the United States, as they kick off the American leg of their 2025 pre-season tour. The first game will be against West Ham United at the famous MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday, 27 July, at midnight BST.
This match is part of the Premier League Summer Series, a mini-tournament between four English clubs: Manchester United, West Ham, Everton, and Bournemouth. Each team will play three games, one against each of the others. The team with the most points at the end will be crowned the winner.

The games follow normal Premier League rules: three points for a win, one for a draw. There’s no extra time or penalties. If teams finish level on points, goal difference decides the winner. If that’s also equal, it goes to goals scored and then head-to-head performance.
Manchester United will play West Ham in New Jersey, Bournemouth in Chicago, and Everton in Atlanta. All matches will be played as double headers: two games on the same day, at the same stadium.

The MetLife Stadium is no stranger to Manchester United. The team last played here in 2023 when they beat Arsenal 2-0 during that year’s pre-season tour. Bruno Fernandes, who had just become club captain, scored a stunning goal, and Jadon Sancho also found the net.
This historic venue has also hosted Club World Cup matches this summer and will even host the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final next year. Returning to such an iconic ground gives United fans plenty to be excited about.
Manchester United come into this match after a goalless draw against Leeds United in Sweden last weekend. That game served as a warm-up, and now the Reds are ready for a tougher challenge in front of their American supporters.
Fans can watch the match live through MUTV, the club’s official channel. The game will be streamed on ManUtd.com and the United App, but fans in the U.S. will need to check local broadcasters instead.
A MUTV subscription costs £7.99 per month or £29.99 for the year, offering access to all the pre-season action, interviews, training footage, and more.
This isn’t just a friendly. United have something to prove. Last season, West Ham beat them twice: once in Erik ten Hag’s final match as manager and again under new boss Ruben Amorim. The Reds want revenge, and this game offers the perfect chance to get it.
West Ham also have something to prove. Their 2024/25 season was full of ups and downs. They started with Julen Lopetegui as manager but switched to Graham Potter in January. Now Potter is looking to begin his first full season strongly.
Both teams are bringing fresh faces. West Ham have signed Kyle Walker-Peters from Southampton and Daniel Cummings from Celtic. They also brought in El Hadji Malick Diouf, a solid left-back from Slavia Prague. Jean-Clair Todibo has also joined permanently after a successful loan from Nice.
Manchester United have added exciting new talent too. Bryan Mbeumo arrived from Brentford and could make his first appearance in this match. The forward is known for his speed, sharp movement, and ability to score in big games.
Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Diego Leon from Cerro Porteño are also part of the tour squad. Both players featured in the game against Leeds and could get more minutes on the field in New Jersey.
This pre-season is more than just fitness and preparation, it’s about chemistry, confidence, and showing the fans what’s coming in 2025/26. For new players, this is a chance to impress the manager and teammates. For the fans, it’s a first look at what could be a very exciting season.
There’s also a competitive edge. Winning the Summer Series would give the Reds momentum going into the Premier League season. It might be just pre-season, but lifting a trophy, even in July, can build belief.
The stadium atmosphere is expected to be electric. American fans are known for their passion, and MetLife Stadium, with its 82,500-seat capacity, is the perfect stage for a clash between two English giants.
For Bruno Fernandes, it’s a special return. Two years ago, he led the team to victory here against Arsenal. Now, he’s back with more experience and ready to lead a new generation of players.
Will Bryan Mbeumo score on his debut? Will Manchester United finally get payback on West Ham? Or will Graham Potter’s men continue their strong run against the Reds?
There’s only one way to find out. Tune in, get your jersey on, and prepare for a night of thrilling football.
