New Nairobi Mega Flyover Near Junction Mall to Ease Traffic by 2027 – KURA Promises No More Delays!

A big road project is now happening in Nairobi. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced that a brand-new flyover at the busy Ngong Road–Naivasha Road junction near Junction Mall will be ready by July 2027. 

This flyover is expected to change how people move in this part of the city. It will make traffic less hectic, reduce waiting times, and help keep everyone safer—whether they are driving, walking, or cycling. 

The new flyover will have four lanes. That means it can carry more cars at the same time. KURA also said the project includes better junctions, walkways for pedestrians, and lanes for people on bicycles. 

“This is not just a road, it’s a step forward in modern city transport,” KURA said in a public statement. The flyover is part of a bigger project to improve the whole Ngong Road corridor. 

The flyover will be built near the famous Junction Mall. This area often experiences heavy traffic, especially during peak hours. Many Nairobians are hopeful that this project will finally bring a lasting solution to daily traffic jams. 

The bridge will be around 800 meters long. It will be a dual carriageway, meaning traffic will flow in two directions without interruption. 

KURA confirmed that construction has already started. So far, things are going as planned. They also promised to finish everything on time, by July 2027. 

But this is not the only road project in the works. KURA has also begun fixing other roads in Nairobi, including the important Valley Road–Kenyatta Avenue route. 

In another update, KURA said they were putting up hoarding walls along Kenyatta Avenue in the Central Business District. These walls are meant to protect people during road repairs. 

Some Kenyans raised concerns, asking whether the walls were safe. KURA quickly responded to clear things up. 

They explained that the walls are temporary and meant to keep both pedestrians and drivers safe while work is ongoing. “Public safety is our top priority,” the authority said. 

They also urged people to ignore any false information being shared online about the walls. 

Silas Kinoti, the Director General of KURA, also had a strong message for road contractors across the country. He said KURA does not tolerate delays or excuses. 

“At KURA, we don’t entertain excuses. Stalled roads must be completed on time,” Kinoti stated. “If you’re behind schedule, forget about weekends. We expect you to work until the job is done.” 

He added that KURA is now focused on finishing all incomplete road projects. The aim is to improve roads in every part of the country, not just Nairobi. 

Many Nairobi residents have welcomed the flyover project. They hope it will reduce the stress they face daily in traffic. Others are happy that there are now special lanes for walking and cycling. 

As cities grow, more people move around each day. Better roads and safer transport systems are becoming more and more important. This flyover is a step in the right direction. 

The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road flyover is expected to not only improve traffic but also create jobs during construction. 

KURA has promised to keep the public updated as the work continues. They will share progress reports and any changes in traffic routes early enough to help people plan their journeys.
