Shock and grief have gripped Machakos Town after a nightclub bouncer was fatally shot during a heated altercation involving a woman in the early hours of Christmas Day.
The deceased, 41-year-old Dominic Munuve Mutisya, was on duty at a popular entertainment spot when a disagreement erupted between him and a male patron.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, trouble began after the bouncer ejected a woman who had been at the club with the suspect.
The confrontation quickly escalated outside the premises, drawing the attention of other revelers. Moments later, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the bouncer several times, killing him on the spot. Panic ensued as patrons fled the scene while others raised alarm.
Police officers rushed to the area and arrested the suspect, identified as Kennedy Mutie, who is reported to be a licensed firearm holder. The woman at the center of the dispute was also taken into custody to assist with investigations.
A pistol and ammunition were recovered at the scene.Mutisya’s body was transferred to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as detectives launched investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
