Marcus Rashford is starting a new journey in Spain, and his new teammates at Barcelona are already noticing something special about him. The English striker, who joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester United, is showing a side of himself that many people may not have understood before.

Rashford played over 400 games and won five trophies with Manchester United. But now, at 27 years old, he has decided it’s time to try something new. After spending last season at Aston Villa, he’s ready to show his talents on a new stage – at Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Even though he’s only been in the team for a short time, defender Jules Koundé has shared some thoughts about how Rashford is fitting in. According to Koundé, Rashford is a bit quiet, but very happy. “He’s a bit introverted, but he’s really enjoying himself, and feeling more and more comfortable,” said Koundé in an interview with Diario Sport.

Koundé also said that Rashford is always smiling and seems to be having fun on the field. “Everyone has welcomed him warmly,” Koundé added. “He’s talking to everyone, and I’m trying to help him as much as I can because I speak English.”

These comments show a different side of Rashford: a calm, thoughtful person who takes time to adjust but brings good energy to the team. This lines up with what Rashford has said about himself in the past.

Last December, in an interview with journalist Henry Winter, Rashford admitted he often feels misunderstood. “I’m a very simple person. I love football. That’s been my life from the beginning,” he said. He also described himself as someone who prefers to be alone sometimes to think and recharge.

In February 2024, Rashford wrote an emotional piece for The Players’ Tribune, where he opened up about his mental struggles and how he finds strength during difficult times. “When I’ve been in my darkest places… I tend to go off by myself for a couple of days and reset, and then I’m fine,” he wrote.

He said this quiet time helps him recover and come back stronger. “That’s just me being an introvert, needing my space to reset,” Rashford explained. “But every single time I’ve been down, physically or mentally, I always feel like that’s when I turn it around and play my best football.”

It’s clear that Rashford’s quiet nature has sometimes been misunderstood by fans and pundits. But at Barcelona, his teammates seem to appreciate him for who he really is.

So far, Rashford has played in two matches for Barcelona. He made his debut against Japanese club Vissel Kobe, coming off the bench and playing 33 minutes. In his next game, he came on at halftime during Barcelona’s exciting 7-3 win over FC Seoul. He even assisted the final goal, which was scored by Ferran Torres – a former Manchester City player.

During his official presentation as a Barcelona player, Rashford spoke with maturity about his move. “The situation with United is that the club is in a period of change,” he said. “But I don’t have anything bad to say. It’s been a big part of my life, and I’m grateful.”

Rashford also compared football to life, saying, “Not everything goes the way you thought. This is my next step and next chapter. I’m focused on improving myself and helping the team win trophies.”

His positive attitude and desire to grow are clear. Rashford isn’t just looking to play well – he wants to develop as a person and a professional.

Many fans in Spain are excited to see what he can do in La Liga. If he continues performing and adapting well, Barcelona could decide to make his loan move permanent.

For now, it looks like Rashford is finding peace, joy, and purpose in Barcelona – something he may have struggled with during his final years at Manchester United.

And while he may be quiet, his actions on and off the pitch are speaking loudly.

Sometimes, the strongest people are the quietest. And Marcus Rashford is proving that in Barcelona.
