Relief is in sight for close to one million students and their families as the Ministry of Education prepares to release the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results.
Education officials have confirmed that the results will be officially announced on Friday, January 9, 2026, bringing an end to weeks of anxious waiting for candidates who sat the national examinations last year. The release will be presided over by the Education Cabinet Secretary alongside officials from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
Approximately one million candidates sat the 2025 KCSE examinations across the country, making it one of the largest cohorts in Kenya’s examination history. For many students, the announcement marks a critical moment that will determine their next steps, including university admission, placement in colleges, or enrollment in technical and vocational training institutions.
Parents and school heads have welcomed the confirmation, noting that uncertainty around results often causes anxiety among learners. In recent days, the Ministry of Education had assured the public that the marking and verification process was on course, emphasizing the need for accuracy and integrity in the release of results.
Once announced, candidates will be able to access their results through official KNEC platforms using their examination index numbers. Schools are also expected to receive detailed performance reports shortly after the public release.
The KCSE results are a key milestone in Kenya’s education system, serving as a gateway to higher education and future career opportunities. As the countdown to the announcement continues, thousands of students across the country are hopeful that their hard work will translate into positive outcomes.
