Rev Lucy Natasha has announced the temporary closure of her Nairobi-based physical church, Empowerment Christian Church (ECC), in a move that has drawn widespread attention among congregants and the wider Christian community.

In a statement issued on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Rev Natasha confirmed that the church will no longer hold physical services at the Biashara Plaza Rooftop, where the ministry has been worshipping for several years. The preacher explained that the decision was necessitated by venue-related challenges, without going into finer details.

Following the closure, all church services and fellowship programmes have been shifted fully online with immediate effect. Rev Natasha reassured worshippers that the ministry remains active and spiritually strong, urging them to continue participating through digital platforms as arrangements are made for the next phase.

Sources familiar with the matter indicate that factors such as rising operational costs and space constraints may have contributed to the decision, reflecting a growing challenge faced by churches operating within Nairobi’s Central Business District.

Rev Natasha further stated that the closure is temporary and part of a broader transition, revealing that the ministry is actively seeking a permanent worship space that aligns with its long-term vision. She called on congregants to remain united, prayerful, and patient during the transition period.

The development marks a notable moment for Empowerment Christian Church, which has built a strong in-person following over the years. However, with Rev Natasha’s extensive online reach and global audience, the church is expected to continue thriving through virtual services as it prepares for a future physical return.
