Rwanda has taken a new step toward deepening its diplomatic footprint in the Horn of Africa following the accreditation of Ambassador Ernest Rwamucyo as the country’s envoy to the State of Eritrea.
On 4th December, Ambassador Rwamucyo formally presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. Isaias Afwerki, President of the State of Eritrea, during an official ceremony held at the State House in Asmara. The ceremony marked his official assumption of duties as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Eritrea.
In his remarks, Ambassador Rwamucyo conveyed Rwanda’s unwavering commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation between Kigali and Asmara. He emphasized that the relationship between the two nations rests on shared values, mutual respect, and historical ties that have shaped collaboration over the years.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Rwanda’s readiness to strengthen partnerships in areas of mutual interest, including political cooperation, economic development, and regional stability. He noted that both countries continue to play constructive roles in regional affairs, making deeper cooperation strategically significant.

President Isaias Afwerki congratulated Ambassador Rwamucyo on his appointment and welcomed him to Eritrea. The President assured him of his government’s full support throughout his tenure and expressed optimism about advancing relations between the two countries.
