The Inspector General of the Rwanda National Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye, has visited the National Police College in Kiganjo, Kenya, in a move that underscores strengthening ties between regional law enforcement institutions.

He was received by senior officials from the Kenya Police Service, including Commandant Nyale Munga, and accompanied by top police leadership during the official tour of the institution.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts by Rwanda and Kenya to deepen cooperation in policing, particularly in professional training, knowledge exchange, and regional security coordination. As East Africa continues to navigate complex security challenges, such engagements highlight the importance of unified approaches in maintaining stability and public safety.

During his remarks, CG Namuhoranye praised the role of the college in shaping professional and disciplined officers, noting that strong training institutions are key to building accountable and effective police forces. He emphasized that modern policing must evolve beyond traditional frameworks to respond to the realities faced by different communities.

He stressed that community policing should not be approached as a uniform model, but rather as a system that adapts to the specific needs, cultures, and security concerns of each locality. According to him, policing strategies must be rooted in understanding communities, fostering trust, and ensuring that citizens are active partners in maintaining security.

His message aligns with a growing shift toward people-centered policing across the region, where collaboration between law enforcement and the public is seen as essential in preventing crime and sustaining peace.

The visit to Kiganjo stands as a signal of continued regional collaboration and a shared vision for more responsive, professional, and community-focused policing systems in Africa.
