positioning east africa on the global stage
Organisers framed the Talanta East Afrika Festival as more than a concert series. Bushington of Tunez Records Uganda described the initiative as a unifying platform designed to connect East Africans through shared cultural identity, while elevating the region’s creative industries internationally.
Co-organiser Mayanja Jackson underscored the long-term vision behind the project, noting that the festival is structured as an evolving cultural movement rather than a one-off event. The goal, he said, is to establish a sustainable regional framework that continuously promotes East African music, fashion, cuisine and artistic innovation.

By bringing together audiences across borders, the organisers aim to reinforce East Africa’s position as an emerging hub in the global live entertainment ecosystem
economic and cultural ripple effects
Targeting audiences aged 18 to 35, the festival will deploy an aggressive digital marketing strategy, leveraging social media campaigns in the lead-up to the May tour.
Beyond its entertainment value, the initiative is expected to generate measurable economic impact. Organisers project increased tourism flows, job creation and heightened activity across complementary sectors including fashion, food, hospitality and nightlife.
They confirmed that the operational workforce in each host country will be sourced locally a move aimed at maximising domestic economic participation and strengthening regional creative infrastructure.
Additional East African performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, further building anticipation around what organisers hope will become a flagship cultural export for the region.
For East Africa’s fast-growing youth market and creative economy, Talanta East Afrika Festival 2026 signals not just a concert tour — but a strategic bid for global cultural relevance .
