Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo has spoken candidly about the intense public scrutiny faced by her partner, Tanzanian R&B star Juma Jux, particularly over his private life and his decision to delay starting a family.
In an interview on the podcast With Chude, Ojo revealed that the singer had spent years dealing with criticism and speculation from social media users in Tanzania, many of whom questioned why he had not yet become a father.
For more than a decade, Juma Jux has remained one of East Africa’s most prominent music stars. Unlike many entertainers whose relationships and family matters frequently dominate public conversation, the singer largely kept his personal life away from the spotlight — a decision that, according to Ojo, only fueled rumours and assumptions online.
She disclosed that many social media users repeatedly questioned his ability to have children, with some making harsh and deeply personal accusations.
“Even in his country, they were always saying that, oh, he cannot have a baby,” Ojo said during the interview.
According to her, the rumours became increasingly aggressive over time, with some online commentators alleging that the singer was impotent, while others spread speculation involving surrogacy and medical procedures.
Ojo explained that much of the criticism came from comparisons with fellow musicians and celebrities who had already started families. She insisted, however, that Jux’s decision was deliberate rather than the result of any personal issue.
“They didn’t know he was very ready… he knew when it was time,” she said.
She also pointed out that within parts of the entertainment industry, especially among high-profile male artists, having children with multiple partners is often treated as normal. Because Jux avoided such controversies and maintained a more private lifestyle, some critics interpreted his silence and restraint negatively instead of appreciating his discipline.
According to Ojo, the singer consciously chose to wait for the right moment and the right partner rather than rushing into fatherhood to satisfy public expectations.
During the conversation, she praised Jux for remaining grounded despite the pressures and temptations associated with fame. She described him as focused, disciplined, and committed to preserving his personal values even while surrounded by people living very different lifestyles.
“You can roll with some certain people and not be like them,” she said, highlighting his ability to stay true to himself despite industry influences.
Ojo added that she strongly connected with his calm personality and quiet determination, qualities she said drew her closer to him.
The relationship between Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux has continued to attract widespread attention across Africa. Priscilla, daughter of celebrated Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, enjoys a massive online following with millions of followers on Instagram and other platforms.
Meanwhile, Juma Jux, popularly known as the “African Boy,” has remained a major figure in the Tanzanian music industry for years and was previously in a highly publicised long-term relationship with Vanessa Mdee.
